Extensions processed by the Department of Immigration offices in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Maximum total stay is 150 days per visa year.
Free (Gratis) Visa Eligibility
- ✓ Children under 10 years of age (except US citizens)
- ✓ SAARC nationals (except Afghanistan) — first visit, up to 30 days
- ✓ Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) card holders
- ✓ Chinese nationals — up to 150 days
- ✓ Officials from certain countries including Thailand, Russia, Brazil, Myanmar, Vietnam, Israel, and Qatar (conditions apply)
Indian nationals do not require a visa. Acceptable ID includes a valid passport or Election Commission card.
Pre-Arrival Visa Required
Nationals of the following countries must obtain a visa from a Nepalese diplomatic mission before travelling — visa on arrival is not available:
